A lesson that should be taught in all schools .. . and colleges!

Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock , did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom.

When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks. ‘Ms. Cothren, where’re our desks?’

She replied, ‘You can’t have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.’

They thought, ‘Well, maybe it’s our grades.’

‘No,’ she said. ‘Maybe it’s our behavior.’

She told them, ‘No, it’s not even your behavior..’

And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom.

By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms.Cothren’s classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.

The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the desk less classroom, Martha Cothren said, ‘Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.’

At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.

Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and

stand along side the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned.

Martha said, ‘You didn’t earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it’s up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don’t ever forget it.’

By the way, this is a true story.

Please consider passing this along so others won’t forget that the freedoms we have in this great country were earned by U. S. Veterans.

My dog sleeps about 20 hours a day.  He has his food prepared for him.

He can eat whenever he wants, 24/7/365.  His meals are provided at no cost to him.  He visits the Dr. once a year for his checkup, and again during the year if any medical needs arise.  For this he pays nothing, and nothing is required of him.  He lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than he needs, but he is not required to do any upkeep.  If he makes a mess, someone else cleans it up.  He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep.  He receives these accommodations absolutely free.  He is living like a king, and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever.  All of his costs are picked up by others who go out and earn a living every day.

I was just thinking about all this, and suddenly it hit me like a brick in the head :

HOLY SHIT!! – my dog is a Democrat!

This was caught on our security cam placed outside the window of my computer room.

Very interesting and worth trying.

The Flu in 1919 killed 40 million people and there was this Doctor that visited the many farmers to see if he could help them combat the flu.      Many of the farmers and their family had contracted it and many died.

The doctor came upon this one farmer and to his surprise, everyone was very healthy.

When the doctor asked what the farmer was doing that was different, the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a dish in the rooms of the home, (probably only two rooms back then). The doctor couldn’t believe it and asked if he could have one of the onions and place it under the microscope.   She gave him one and when he did this, he did find the flu virus in the onion.

It obviously absorbed the bacteria, therefore, keeping the family healthy.   Now, I heard this story from my hairdresser in AZ.     She said that several years ago many of her employees were coming down with the flu and so were many of her customers.   The next year she placed several bowls with onions around in her

shop.   To her surprise, none of her staff got sick.    It must work.. (And no, she is not in the onion business.)

The moral of the story is,…buy some onions and place them in bowls around your home.  If you work at a desk, place one or two in your office or under your desk or even on top somewhere. Try it and see what happens.      We did it last year and we never got the flu.

If this helps you and your loved ones from getting sick, all the better.. If you do get the flu, it just might be a mild case.

Whatever, what have you to lose? Just a few bucks on onions!!!

The wife’s mother has had a problem with raccoons tearing up things under her car port and out buildings. The brother in law set a live trap and after a few tries the raccoon was caught. We relocated him to an unpopulated are on a creek.
